Some errata for 978-0-470-18757-9, Professional ASP.NET 3.5 In C# and VB:

pg 247, second to last sentence on the page: <h3> should be <h1>.

pg 253: Figure 5-13 is incorrect.

pg 487: Figure 9-12 is incorrect.

pg 527, second to last sentence on the page: Listing 10-13 contains no highlighted text.

I was expecting more errata to be listed. I guess I'll have to start writing down more of the errors as I find them instead of just grumbling ... ;)

I've also got one for 978-0-470-18759-3, Beginning ASP.NET 3.5: In C# and VB:

pg 372, description column for varchar / nvarchar: Shouldn't nchar be nvarchar?

Feedback to Apple regarding an Apple Store visit (my first)

The no checkout thing is weird. Had someone else (a Mac user) not a) told me about the process and b) told me about the store location, I would c) made the purchase online instead, and not gotten exactly what I think I want (/known about my other options) and d) would have been utterly confused about the checkout process :)

But, the two people I spoke with while checking out were extremely friendly, and I was amazed by the quality of the store. Wow!

Submitted online, per their request in my receipt email.

I bought a charger for in my car, which I'll be reviewing in a few months, or so.

Review: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: The Complete Official Guide (Piggyback softcover)

The short story: If you're new to MG, BUY THIS BOOK. If you want to completely* understand this game, BUY THIS BOOK. If you want to have a book that you can be glad you spent every penny for, BUY THIS BOOK. :D

MGS4 is my first experience with the entire Metal Gear 'saga.' Since MG has such a complicated storyline, my first playthrough involved a whole lot of listening to the cut scenes.

However, despite all that, I was still a bit lost.

Not only does this guide cover 99%* of the game, but it also contains a very readable synopsis of the entire story. (WARNING: Be careful if you read it before you've finished MGS4. You can get away with reading a lot, but ...) This is what really made this book worth it, to me.

Of course, the rest of the book helped a great deal as well, and is what I'll be consulting during my future runs through the game (one of which started the day after I completed MGS4).

*: This guide doesn't cover the passwords that Konami hasn't released yet. Oh well.
